How do the opportunities?
The FC Barcelona Is top favorite – as almost always. The record champion won the premier class twelve times, three of the titles have come from the past four years. The squad of the catalans is peppered with top stars like Dika Mem or Aleix Gomez. With Emil Nielsen and Gonzalo Perez de Vargas, Barca has the best goalkeeper team that the handball world currently has to offer. You will also need that: the SC Magdeburg is an unpleasant opponent who let Barca’s title dreams burst in 2023.

The Foxes Berlin Come to Cologne as a freshly baked German champion with a lot of tailwind. This is not the only reason why they go into their semi -finals against Nantes as a favorite. The largest weapon of Berliners: world handball player Mathias Gidsel – his game intelligence and danger of scoring are second to none. He threw 126 goals alone in this Champions League season and is well on the way to becoming this year’s top scorer.

The SC Magdeburg hopes for a repetition. At the Final Four 2023, the green-red defeated FC Barcelona in seven-meter throwing and won the title a day later. The SCM coach Bennet Wiegert team has already proven that Barca was beatable this season: In the group phase, the Catalans beat at home – led by playmaker Gisli Kristjansson. Its use is questionable. Two weeks before the Champions League weekend, the Icelander was injured again on the shoulder. If he couldn’t play, that would be a bitter weakening for Magdeburg.

The HBC Nantes Has already exceeded his goals. The team of coach Gregory Cojean actually set the goal of reaching the KO phase. Now it separates from the title twice 60 minutes. In the final Four, the French are considered the underdogs. Especially because semi -final opponents in Berlin is in a captivating constitution. But that shouldn’t mean anything – the Final Four in Cologne has proven several times to be a good place for surprises.
