“Nice to see. Cool. I’m very proud.” The sky is colored orange locally along the TT Circuit. It is the section where the fans of Collin Veijer sit, the 18-year-old rider from Staphorst who finished seventh in the Moto3 race.
His cousin sits proudly by the side. “He is doing well. He can keep up well”, he sees Veijer driving his laps. And he’s not the only one. His grandfather is also there, just like a few hundred other fans from Staphorst. “It’s great if he can race well,” says his grandfather.
The friends club is also there. “I’ve known him since high school,” says one of them. “We see him less often now, because he has to go abroad more often.”
After Veijer crosses the finish line in seventh place, the whole group runs towards the fences and the orange smoke bombs appear.
