When Lammie and Lex’s children were old enough, they too were given an active role in the organization. Alexander, Othmar and Leonie still dress up as Piets and help out where they can.
Alexander’s girlfriend Lorinde Rosing is also involved in the party and introduced a modern addition. Every year, prior to the arrival, she makes three vlogs about the adventures of Saint Nicholas and the Piets. After the arrival, a play follows with the denouement of the story. “It’s really nice to see how these stories resonate with the children,” she says.
When asked whether the family will continue until the 100th anniversary, they look at each other one by one. Then Lex says: “I don’t know who can replace you, Lammie, you make sure everyone comes together.” The children nod in agreement. “Around this time of year you see everyone you know,” Lammie explains. “Friends, family, friends of family. It all comes together, that’s what makes it so beautiful.”
“We’ll just have to discuss who will succeed mom.” the family decides. “Maybe she wants to,” says Lorinde, pointing to her daughter. “The Fourth Generation.”
