The weather god doesn’t mean well. After the men’s race a week ago, the women’s downhill was also canceled due to extreme winds.

The opening race in the Women’s Downhill World Cup was originally scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Due to extremely strong winds, the organizers postponed the start until 12.30 p.m., and the event was completely canceled in the morning. It is unclear whether the second planned race will take place on Sunday.

A week ago, heavy snowfall and wind prevented the men’s planned races on the Matterhorn. The first two-country downhill run in World Cup history from Switzerland to Italy, a prestigious FIS event, fell victim to the weather. The women were supposed to start a little lower in Cervinia, Italy, on Saturday, but there was no guarantee of a safe process there either.
