Extra signaling on E40 in De Panne after a series of accidents

Yesterday a fatal accident happened at the exit in Adinkerke. Mayor Bram Degrieck has already asked for extra signage to be placed there. The Agency for Roads and Traffic is now taking immediate measures to increase safety on the E40.

“The situation on the E40 requires customization and quick switching. Yesterday we already placed warning signs, tomorrow we will also place two test carts in the context of mobile tailback protection”, says Flemish Minister of Mobility Lydia Peeters.

“Adjust driving style”

“I also call on road users to be alert and to adjust their driving style and speed,” the minister added. Mayor Bram Degrieck is pleased that action is finally being taken: “The task of the road manager is to guarantee road safety, which I have pointed out several times.”

There are two signs on the bridge near the Adinkerke complex and on the bridge near Cappoenstraat to warn road users of possible traffic jams. On 17 June, the Roads and Traffic Agency will place billboards between the French border and the Adinkerke slip road to warn road users of border controls.

Just after the entrance and exit complex in Veurne and just after the entrance and exit complex in Adinkerke, two mobile test carts will be built. On it is the symbol of traffic jam if there is a traffic jam further on. In the course of next week there will be another mobile gallows pole. For tourist traffic, the designated driving route to Plopsaland via exit Veurne will be emphasized even more by placing additional fixed signage boards between Nieuwpoort and Veurne.
