From Monday, October 6, Gilze-Rijen Air Base will have to deal with extra air traffic from F-35s. The fighter jets will temporarily settle there in the coming months due to training activities. The Ministry of Defense has announced this. The Ministry of Defense adds that taking off and landing can lead to nuisance for local residents.
The F-35s are normally stationed at the Air Basissen in Volkel and Leeuwarden. The Royal Netherlands Air Force believes it is important that this fighter aircraft practices from different locations.
As a result, the Air Force thinks that the men are better prepared for various circumstances. It also plays a role that, by using different bases, the sound of flight movements is more fairly distributed over the country.
Other training dates
The first training activities with F-35s at Gilze-Rijen Air Base are planned for 6 to 10 October. Also in the weeks from 27 to 31 October and from 1 to 3 December, the fleet with F-35s is expected on Gilze-Rijen.
Woensdrecht Air Base has had the same in recent weeks. F35s also practiced there in countries and rooms, between September 22 and October 3.
The Royal Netherlands Air Force will always inform local residents on time of the exercises and the nuisance that can be accompanied by this.
Earlier this year it was announced that there will be no extra locations for F-35s in Gilze-Rijen, but also in Woensdrecht, De Peel and Volkel.
