Aaron Anselmino was the only summer signing to make a huge impact at Borussia Dortmund. But: BVB could apparently lose the loan from Chelsea in the winter transfer period.
According to Sky, the Blues have a previously unknown return clause for January.
Background: As part of the loan deal, a minimum amount of playing time for Anselmino’s first half of the year in black and yellow was agreed between BVB and Chelsea. The 20-year-old Argentine did not achieve this, otherwise the option would have expired.
Since Anselmino was missing at the end of the football year in the Bundesliga against SC Freiburg (1-1) and Borussia Mönchengladbach due to a thigh injury, Chelsea could now pull the clause.
Those in charge of BVB should not be acutely afraid of the defender returning to London. However, this cannot be completely ruled out, depending, for example, on the personnel situation at the fourth-placed team in the Premier League.
It is definitely out of the question that Anselmino will continue to play for BVB beyond the summer and his loan spell. According to consistent reports, Chelsea are firmly planning to sign the top talent. There is also no purchase option for BVB.
Upheaval in the BVB defense?
Dortmund arranged the Anselmino deal as part of the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka. While the midfielder, who costs 25 million euros, only plays a supporting role, Anselmino has almost always impressed across the board in his nine games so far in the BVB jersey.
There are signs of a change in the BVB defense for the coming season: In addition to Anselmino, Niklas Süle will probably also leave the club after his contract expires.
Captain Emre Can’s contract has not yet been extended, and Nico Schlotterbeck could become a candidate for sale if he does not commit to BVB in the long term.
