Bielefeld sensationally achieved the semi-finals in the DFB Cup with a victory over Bremen. Kevin Kühnert was also on site – and experienced a curious scene.

Ex-SPD general secretary Kevin Kühnert left the Bundestag after the Bundestag election on Sunday. As the 35-year-old announced in autumn, he withdraws from politics at least for the time being due to health problems.

On Tuesday evening, the confessing fan of Arminia Bielefeld followed the DFB Cup quarter-finals between the third division club and Bundesliga club Werder Bremen on site on the Bielefeld Alm.

Kühnert was not only at the cup highlight in the stadium, as he revealed to the magazine “11Freunde”. “A distinctive difference to my life, as it was until a few months ago, is that I have a lot of free time again for the first time in years,” said the political dropout.

Before that, it was always associated with a lot of effort to go to the stadium. “Also because DFL and DFB have only scheduled some games three weeks in advance. How can you plan there? Now I have not missed an away game since October, that would have been unthinkable for years,” said Kühnert.

Asked whether the outgoing FDP chairman Christian Lindner, who once posed for a photo with BVB cup, also had more time for football after leaving his party from the Bundestag, only had several side auctions.

He had no idea how Groß Lindner’s passion for football was. “He shaped the beautiful sentence: ‘I have never been able to speak to Mr. Kühnert personally.’ That was one of the rare moments when he said the truth and nothing but the truth, “said Kühnert. Lindner now has time. “But I am not sure whether you should congratulate a BVB fan this season,” said the ex-SPD general secretary with a view to the weak season of Dortmund (currently only ten in the table).

Kühnert also had a few sharp words ready for Lindner’s party colleague Wolfgang Kubicki. When he visited the stadium, it was probably happy and kissed at a hangover during the interview. Kubicki also admitted a hangover the day after the Bundestag election because he “cast” the bad election result.

Kühnert therefore said: “So far I have never been very close to him, but this morning? I was probably close.” In contrast to Kubicki, however, he had something to celebrate. “Ultimately, on the election evening, the following applies as at the cup evening: performance has to be worthwhile again,” said Kühnert, making fun of an old campaign slogan from the FDP.

Kühnert experienced a somewhat curious scene in the stadium when Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch was thrown at an object during the game. Immediately afterwards, Kühnert was captured by the TV cameras-a scene that spread quickly on the Internet. The excerpt was also shown on his cell phone in the stadium, said Kühnert. “I mean how unlikely is that?! There are tens of thousands in the stadium and among the seven faces that are shown, my Arminia crew is of all places. That was fun,” said the 35-year-old.

However, he himself vehemently denied that he had thrown the object: “Forget it! I didn’t throw it,” said Kühnert. “Seriously: You don’t do that, I want to underline that at this point. This is not cool. And if things go stupid, it ruins everyone involved all evening.”
