Jean-Kévin Augustin once moved to the Bundesliga for 15 million euros. But he never managed to make a big breakthrough. Now he plays without a club in Poland after a while.
Around seven months after his farewell to FC Basel, Jean-Kévin Augustin found a new club. The former striker of lawn ball sport Leipzig will play in Polish EkstraKlasa in the future.
Motor Lublin, currently a first division club in Poland, announced the 27-year-old’s commitment. Augustin initially receives a contract until the end of the season, and the option for an extension is another year.
The striker was once considered a great talent, switching from Paris Saint-Germain to the Saxons in 2017 for 15 million euros. In Leipzig, however, he missed the big breakthrough and also in Monaco, Leeds, Nantes and Basel, he should no longer succeed. So now it goes to Poland.
Paweł Golański, sports director of Motor Lublin, was optimistic about the reinforcement: “Kévin is a player with great potential and experience that he gained in the European top leagues. We are aware that he was unusual for several months, but he has been training with us for several weeks and every day we have been able to improve his dynamics and movements on the square.”
Golański also emphasized that it would be used to ensure that Augustin’s experience and ambition could secure a contract extension after the season.
