Ex-Liverpool player Dirk Kuyt dismissed by ADO Den Haag

First coaching station of the ex-professional

“I want to bring ADO back to the Eredivisie within a year,” said Dirk Kuyt when he took up his first post as head coach in The Hague. After 175 days, the mission for the 42-year-old ex-national player is over. The Dutch second division club announced the separation from Kuyt on Thursday. In 17 games under the long-time Liverpool pro, ADO scored an average of 1.12 points, in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie the club is only 17th with 16 points from 16 games.

“It’s a difficult day for ADO Den Haag. The club have decided not to continue with Dirk Kuyt. We are convinced that a change of direction in the first eleven can turn the tide. The goal remains the same,” the club said in a statement. “We thank Dirk for his professionalism, commitment and dedication. In addition, we really appreciate the tenacity, perseverance and inspiration that characterize Dirk as a person.”
