Ex-Leipziger Jesse Marsch favorite for coaching post at Leeds United

The Telegraph reported

Is he going or is he staying? Cult coach Marcelo Bielsa’s future at Leeds United is as open as ever. Almost traditionally, the Argentinian only signed for one season in Yorkshire before the season. Uncertainty about how things will continue in the coming season is therefore not unusual for the Premier League club. Nevertheless, one looks around in the club management and seems to have specifically come to Jesse Marsch.

The former RB Leipzig coach has been without a club since his release in Saxony at the beginning of December. A report in the newspapertelegraphAccording to him, the American is the favorite for Bielsa’s post if he decides to go somewhere other than the usual one-year extension. It has not yet become clear whether Leeds United themselves could decide against the imponderable model with their trainer. In the reporting, march appears more as an emergency solution. His candidacy, however, is described in the report as “the strongest of those available”.

“Smooth transition” from Bielsa to Marsch: Leeds are looking for an offensive style of play

Among the names that Marsch would leave behind in consideration of the club leadership are the clubless ex-Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde and Carlos Corberán, also Spaniard, who is currently still under contract with Huddersfield Town. Marsch, however, as “Athletic” reporter Phil Hay recently put it, is best described as a “soft transition” to Bielsa.

It is important that Marsch is always attributed an offensive style of play. Leeds have not yet significantly manifested their standing as a goal factory in the current season, but this is not the first time that they have attracted attention in this regard. With 62 Premier League goals, the promoted team at the time shared sixth place in the league comparison after the 2020/21 season. The Whites finished the past championship round in eighth place. Bielsa is currently only in 15th place with his “Peacocks”, without giving the impression of being a relegation candidate at the moment.
