In Asia, Jens Lehmann returns to the soccer field again. But after just a few minutes, the goalkeeper sees the red card.
Jens Lehmann had certainly imagined it differently: at an invitation tournament in Asia, the former German national goalkeeper was again between the posts. Lehmann wanted to keep the goal clean for the Yau Yee League All Stars, but it turned out differently.
In the first group game of the tournament, Lehmann misjudged with a long pass after just six minutes. His opponent lifted the ball over his head and was on the way towards the empty goal. But Lehmann grabbed his shoulder without further ado, did not let go of his jersey and brought his opponent to the ground.
The referee did not hesitate long and showed Lehmann, who last stood on the pitch in 2024 in the legend game of the 2004 Greek European champions from 2004, due to an emergency brake. The situation was actually clear, but Lehmann could hardly believe it and discussed with the referee for minutes. However, he did not have mercy and the 55-year-old had to leave the place.
For the subsequent penalty, striker Felix Luz stood in the goal, but could not parry. In the end, the game was lost 0-2 for the Yau Yee League All Stars. Even after that, things didn’t go much better: the team ended the group phase in last place.
