Former BVB pro Adnan Januzaj will no longer play for Real Sociedad San Sebastián in the coming season. The LaLiga club, who qualified sixth for the Europa League, confirmed on Monday that the 27-year-old’s expiring contract would not be extended. Likewise, Nacho Monreal (36) will also leave the club.
Januzaj joined La Real in 2017 for €8.5m from Manchester United, having previously been on loan at Borussia Dortmund (first half of 2015/16) and AFC Sunderland (2016/17). In San Sebastián, the offensive player completed 167 games in which he scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists. It is unclear where the Belgian will go now.
It is also not yet known whether Monreal will continue his career. The former Arsenal pro has been out since August with a serious knee injury. He joined San Sebastián in 2019 and has since made 69 appearances (four goals/one assist).
