Ex-BTSV defender changes to regional league promoters

Brian Behrendt returns Stuttgart. The former defender of Eintracht Braunschweig is drawn back to Lower Saxony. There are also private reasons.
Former Eintracht defender Brian Behrendt is back in the Braunschweig region. The now 33-year-old changes from the Stuttgart Kickers to regional league promoted FSV Schöningen. The club announced this on Thursday afternoon. “With his return to the region (Braunschweig), Brian sets a signal and supports the path we have taken as a club,” says the message.
The climber enriches his own squad through the obligation with plenty of experience. Behrendt made a stop in his professional career at Rapid Vienna or Arminia Bielefeld. From 2021 to 2024 he was under contract with Eintracht Braunschweig. Overall, he comes to three Bundesliga and 146 second division games in Germany. After his engagement in Braunschweig, he played for Halleschen FC and most recently for the Stuttgart Kickers in the regional league.
The step back near the Löwenstadt, Behrendt was now also carried out for private reasons. “After our move to Stuttgart, it was clear for my family and me: we want to go here again, Braunschweig should be our center of life,” says Behrendt. “We felt very comfortable here and when the contact with the FSV was created, it was going round.”
He wanted to contribute his experience as a central defender to the fresh regional league. “I always write to myself. One of my great strengths is the quality of leadership,” said Behrendt. “I would like to demonstrate that here again.”
In contrast, he does not have his time in Stuttgart in too good memory. “The fun and the joy of football were significantly neglected in Stuttgart,” he says. “That is exactly the opposite here.” He is “super happy” about his change and is now looking forward to a “horny task”.
In Schöningen, Behrend meets another former BTSV professional. Maximilian Sauer, active for Eintracht from 2014 to 2018, is captain of the regional league promoted. In the past league season, Schöningen still met the reserve of Eintracht Braunschweig. This reunion does not exist for Behrendt at first.
