Evert Santegoeds thinks Expedition Robinson is worse than Peter Gillis

Evert Santegoeds, the man who is fine with SBS 6 holding on to Peter Gillis, states that competitor RTL 4 is going too far, namely by broadcasting Expedition Robinson. “So bad.”

Shownieuws star Evert Santegoeds, probably on behalf of John de Mol, proactively contributed to promoting the last season of Familie Gillis: Massa is Kassa. After a period of hostility towards Peter Gillis, he has changed like a leaf on a tree: now he hugs the reality star completely.

Expedition Common

So Evert thinks it’s fine that a shady character like Peter Gillis keeps his spot on the TV, but what does he think is scandalous television? Expedition Robinson from competitor RTL 4. He never watches, but he did watch last weekend because his Shownieuws colleague Iris van Lunenburg is in it. She was immediately voted out.

Not only Iris is furious, but also all her colleagues at Shownieuws. They are now running a kind of campaign against the ‘nasty’ Expedition Robinson and are calling for this program to be scrapped. Evert also participates in this.

‘So negative’

According to Evert, Expedition Robinson is cross-border television. “I think: let people fly to the other side of the world and say on the spot: ‘Go again’… Even if you may end up on a drop-out island. You won’t lose any weight at all, because you haven’t done anything yet. So it is so negative, so bad actually,” he fumes in the podcast Strictly Private.

So people should not boycott Peter Gillis, but Expedition Robinson, he believes. “I think it’s a really nasty programme. I never actually look at it. This week I went to see my colleague Iris van Lunenburg and it doesn’t make me happy.”

Scratching behind the ears

Evert calls on RTL’s TV boss Peter van der Vorst to take Expedition Robinson off the air after voting out his colleague Iris. “I think that RTL should really ask themselves whether this is still a format that can continue or, just like Ranking the Stars, it will be assessed as: yes, actually that is no longer possible.”

He concludes: “And furthermore, people shouldn’t complain. You go to an island like that and it lasts a few weeks and you know you’re going to have some hardships, but I just don’t feel like it fits in with the times. And if they should realize that somewhere, it is with RTL 4.”
