Evert Santegoeds does not expect that RTL will make a bid for the men of Today Inside, even now that the obstructive boss Peter van der Vorst has left. “Expensive and risky.”

The Talpa contract of the men from Today Inside is slowly coming to an end. It is still the most influential talk show in the country, so now that the VI-hating Peter van der Vorst has left as RTL boss, people wonder whether RTL will try to bring back the men from VI. Now their former boss Peter Lubbers holds sway there.

Back to RTL?

TV authority Tina Nijkamp advises RTL to make a bid, but Privé boss Evert Santegoeds thinks they will not do so. “Yes, the contract is expiring a bit, but I don’t see that happening one, two, three, even if Peter van der Vorst is gone,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.

He continues: “They of course have a very good relationship with Peter Lubbers, the new director there with whom they have worked before, but yes… What are you going to do again? You have Lubach and Renze and then you also have to place the men from VI? I wouldn’t know where to do that.”

Expensive undertaking

There is actually no room left on the late evening of RTL 4, according to Evert. “Should you put that on RTL 5 or something? I think that is a risky and expensive undertaking.”

Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden: “At the same time: I don’t think a little bit of a right-wing shift at RTL would do any harm to appeal to a slightly broader audience.”

Evert concludes: “Yes, it has all been very neat lately.”
