The digital future of our education and more European cooperation for digital safety: two of the topics that were discussed at the annual event of the Dutch Restoration and Resilience Plan (HVP) on 17 and 18 September 2025 in The Hague and Nijmegen. During this day, the HVP program conducting of the Ministry of Finance, together with Stakeholders and the European Commission, considered the importance and influence of digitization in society and the role of the HVP.

On the first day of the meeting, Jasper Wesseling, Thesaurier General at the Ministry of Finance, kicked off the day with a welcome speech in which he pointed to the importance of the HVP and multi-year financial framework for the digital transition. This was followed by in -depth sessions in which those present entered into discussions with expertization expertization within Logistics, the criminal justice chain, education and traffic. Subsequently, the opportunities and dilemmas concerning digitization and artificial intelligence were discussed during a panel discussion between Maite Fabregas of the Recovery and Resilience Task Force of the European Commission, Willem Jonker van Ained, Marc Zegveld of TNO and Maaike Okano-Heijmans of the Clingendael Institute.

The next day, the European Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science visited the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) at Radboud University Nijmegen. This network of teachers and educational professionals in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region is working on continuous development, innovation and research in education. A number of institutions involved have received HVP resources, which jointly work on issues in the field of TLCs. NPULS, Radboud University, ROC Nijmegen, TLC network region Arnhem-Nijmegen, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Program Direction HVP then told about their cooperation and projects they are doing. A good example of how money from the HVP ends up in practice.
