Maarten van Rossem compares Eva Jinek with a neglected and old Roman building. She has suffered damage due to her transfer to RTL 4, he thinks. “In my eyes, huh?”

After four years of never really being in her place at RTL 4, Eva Jinek will return to public broadcasting after the turn of the year. And the presenter can get started right away, says NPO star Maarten van Rossem podcast. He thinks the talk show host has been damaged by her lucrative commercial venture.

Neglected

Eva’s image has been seriously damaged, says Maarten. “Well, I have to tell you… Yes, she does remind me of some of those Roman buildings that are slightly neglected in Italy, so that a small bush grows in the eaves. I do think she is slightly damaged. In my opinion!”

Maarten never liked the choice for RTL, he says. “When all this was announced, because she was ‘the most genius talk show host’ and so on, I thought: I don’t think she’s wise.”

Garbage

According to Maarten, as a serious presenter you should never choose RTL. “I think that’s RTL… You’re going to die if you have serious ambitions. I mean content. RTL always leads to vague chatter and singers and so on. That doesn’t alter the fact that I really enjoyed sitting with Humberto the other day. Well, then you can say what you want to say.”

Eva’s viewing figures have collapsed considerably in her RTL years, but she was spared a real viewing figure disaster à la Twan Huys. “Well… There were some dramatic evenings, you know,” says Maarten.

In terms of ratings or content? “I think both.”

Time slot

Maarten, who received a reprimand from Eva six months ago for interfering with her pregnancy, also has an opinion about the intended time slot in which she wants to broadcast on public broadcasting: at 7 p.m. on NPO 1.

Not good either, according to the jury member of De Slimste Mens. “Yeah, I wouldn’t if I were her. Well, it’s not up to me to say anything sensible about that either. Everyone has to find out for themselves what kind of programs they prefer to do.”
