The German women’s national table tennis team has qualified for the knockout rounds at the European Team Championships in Sweden.

Nina Mittelham (TTC Berlin Eastside), Ying Han (KTS Tarnobrzeg) and Sabine Winter (TSV Dachau) made it through to the round of 16 in Malmö with a 3-0 win over Austria. The German women had already won their first game against England 3-0.

The Austrians missed the European champion in singles and doubles, Sofia Polcanova. In Malmo, Amelie Solja is the team’s number one. She is the sister of the retired German international Petrissa Solja. She lost against world number ten Ying Han in 1:3 sets.

The knockout games of this team European Championship begin on Thursday. The winners of the tournament qualify for the team competition of the 2024 Olympic Games. The eight quarter-finalists and four other round of 16 participants will take part in the World Team Championships in February 2024 in South Korea.
