European Championships: That was day 3 in Munich

Status: 08/13/2022 10:04 p.m

Track cycling is a German affair at the European Championships. The gymnasts also had reason to celebrate. Disappointment, however, at the Germany eight.

Track Bike – Three golds and two silvers

Gold for Mieke Kröger in the women’s individual pursuit, gold for Emma Hinze in the time trial and silver for Lisa Brennauer, gold for Nicolas Heinrich in the individual pursuit and Moritz Malcharek in the scratch – what a day that was for German track cycling.

Gymnastics – “It hardly gets any nicer”

In the end, Sarah Voss, Emma Malewski, Kim Bui and Elisabeth Seitz hugged each other – Germany’s gymnasts had won bronze in the team competition. “It couldn’t be nicer. It’s great that I can still experience it”, said Bui.

Triathlon – Schomburg strong seventh

Jonas Schomburg convinced as the best German in the triathlon at the European Championships. It was quite a surprise. All three medals went to France, no surprise there. Nor that the European champion is called Léo Bergère.

Rowing – Diening takes silver in Para competition

First German medal in the para rowing competitions of the European Championships: Manuela Diening won silver in the single.

Otherwise it was not a successful day for German rowing. The Germany eight disappointed in fourth, only the individual starters Oliver Zeidler and Alexandra Föster could be satisfied.

BMX Freestyle – Jeanjean third, Schulze sixth

The new European champion in men’s BMX freestyle is an old friend: Anthony Jeanjean had already won gold in 2019 and 2021. Timo Schulze and Paul Thölen, the two Germans in the final, came in sixth and eighth.

Climbing – Meul is seventh, men’s final without Germans

Climber Hannah Meul finished seventh in the lead final at the European Championships – her favorite discipline is actually bouldering. The men’s bouldering final took place without Yannick Flohé, Alexander Megos and Christoph Schweiger.

Surprisingly, Nicolai Uznik from Austria won. Uznik injured his arm during the competition – and still won gold.

Table tennis – Duda and Winter move into the main round

In doubles, Benedikt Duda and Sabine Winter prevailed against Jordy Piccolin/Debora Vivarelli from Italy and secured participation in the round of 32. The second German mixed team Nina Mittelham/Dang Qiu was already seeded for the main round.
