European Championships: EM out for beach volleyball boys Ehlers/Wickler

Status: 08/20/2022 4:42 p.m

The Beach Volleyball European Championships in Munich end without a German medal. In the men’s quarterfinals at the European Championships, the last German duo, Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler, was also eliminated.

Ehlers/Wickler lost 15:21, 14:21 against the favored Norwegians Anders Mol and Christian Sørum. The Scandinavians are Olympic champions in 2021 as well as reigning world and European champions. Mol/Sørum hardly showed any weaknesses against the top German duo and asserted themselves impressively.

End of the line quarterfinals

After all, three German teams made it to the quarter-finals at the European Championship. There was always the terminus. The two women’s duos Karla Borger/Julia Sude and Chantal Laboureur/Sarah Schulz were eliminated the day before.

No happy ending for Olympic champion Walkenhorst

Olympic champion Kira Walkenhorst failed with her new partner Louisa Lippmann in the repechage round, just like the duo Svenja Müller/Cinja Tillmann. For the men’s team Lukas Pfretzschner and Robin Sowa, after defeats at the start, the hopeful round was already the end.
