In the semi-final first leg of the Europa League, Manchester United clearly won at Athletic Bilbao and takes a huge step towards the final.
The goals in the 3-0 away win scored Casemiro (30th minute) and Bruno Fernandes (37th/Elfmeter, 45.). From the 35th minute after a red card against Daniel Vivian, the hosts also had to play outnumbered.
For the Basques, the big dream of the final in their own stadium threatens to burst. The final of the Europa League will take place on May 21st in Bilbao.
Five horror minutes for Bilbao in the first section
In the first half hour, Bilbao showed a good game – then the mischief started: after strong preparatory work by Harry Maguire, the red card and the second goal followed only five minutes later. Vivian had captured Rasmus Hojlund – in the view of the video images, referee Eskas decided on a dismissal and penalty.
