Zulte Waregem had a dramatic first half at the Gaverbeek, and saw Emrehan Gedikli and Bertan Caliskan give the East Cantoners a 0-2 lead. Goal scorer Gedikli got a stupid red card just before half time because he had deliberately aimed the ball out of play at the face of an Essevee player, thus giving Zulte a helping hand.
After the break, Essevee came alongside in three crazy minutes through Stavros Gabriel and Matheus Machado. When the Pandas had to continue with nine for twenty minutes, after Shayne Pattynam was sent off and Machado again made it 3-2, the Eupen calf had completely drowned.
In the standings, Zulte Waregem is authoritatively in the lead, with six points more than first pursuer RWDM.
