Essentiel Antwerp creates wearable works of art

Essentiel Antwerp and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, KMSKA for short, have designed a joint capsule collection.

The collaboration comes as part of the grand reopening of the museum after eleven years. Essentiel Antwerp’s creative director Inge Onsea and her team had access to the museum’s entire collection and selected four important paintings from art history. These became “wearable works of art” as part of the collaboration, the Belgian brand announced at the end of September.

The four selected artworks are Jean Fouquet’s “Madonna and Child Surrounded by Angels”, James Ensor’s “The Intrigue”, “The Woman Reading” by Rik Wouters and also the painting “Bouquet in a Vase” by Jan Breughel II The colorful motifs now adorn kimonos, leather accessories, cell phone cases, earrings, brooches and also key rings as part of the capsule.

“We are honored to be able to work with the Royal Museum of Fine Arts,” emphasizes Onsea, adding that the connection between the museum and the Belgian brand is not only the Antwerp headquarters, but also the “big dreams” and ” the common goal of evoking emotions and awakening powerful feelings”.
