After the violent foul of Essen Kelsey Owusu against BVB professional Yan Couto, racist insults had occurred. Now the RWE player is acting.
Football professional Kelsey Owusu von Rot-Weiss Essen reacted to hatred and agitation on social networks and deactivated his profile on Instagram. The third division team confirmed this step of Tuesday morning on request.
Owusu committed a violent foul with an open sole against Dortmund’s Yan Couto on Monday evening at 0-1 against Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Cup. The BVB professional then had to be brought off the pitch with the stretcher. In the evening, the Essener went to the Dortmund cabin to apologize personally. Owusu was then victims of partly racist insults on the net.
The withdrawal from social networks took place in consultation with Rot-Weiss Essen. The third division team clearly positioned himself behind his 21-year-old player, expressed full solidarity and announced another statement for Tuesday.
Trainer Uwe Koschinat also clearly took a position. “I think it is unforgivable when a player gets so hard. But it is not unforgivable because the player is dark -skinned, but because the action is simply shit,” said the Essen coach.
In order to meet the situation, the club had already deactivated the comment function on the Instagram profile on Tuesday night. There, too, insults and racist comments had occurred.
