“ESPN”: Inter Miami and Suárez agree – 258 games together with Messi at Barça

Gremio contract ends

Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez appeared on the pitch together 258 times at FC Barcelona. They parted ways in 2020 when Suárez went to Atlético Madrid – now they could reunite at Inter Miami CF. How “ESPN“Reports, citing its own sources, that the MLS club, where Messi has been under contract since last summer, has reached an agreement with Suárez. The 36-year-old is leaving Brazilian club Gremio Porto Alegre at the end of the year.

According to the report, Inter Miami and Suárez have negotiated a one-year contract with the option of a second season. The only thing missing is the signature. Suárez moved to Grêmio from Club Nacional in his native Uruguay in January and signed there until the end of 2024. In July he announced that he would be leaving the club a year early due to physical problems. “Next year I won’t be able to bring to Gremio what is expected of me because of the intensity of Brazilian football,” he shared.

There are 46 appearances for Gremio, in which he scored 19 goals and 16 assists. The attacker’s market value, which was once estimated at 90 million euros, had recently fallen to 4 million euros due to his age. At Inter Miami, where alongside Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, two other former companions are in the squad, Suárez would be one of the most highly valued professionals. He is considered the designated successor to striker Josef Martínez, whose expiring contract was not extended.
