The presenter Esko Eerikäinen ended up in the AA Club. She tells about her experience in her and Martina Aitolehti Martina & Esko in the podcast.

Eerikäinen and Aitolehti are dealing with the intoxicating theme of their personal angles. Eerikäinen says that he has been thinking a lot about his relationship with alcohol and at one time he also took the antabus course, which is used to treat alcohol dependence.

Eerikäinen tells his pain a couple of years ago when he wondered if he had an alcohol problem or not.

– I called my good friend Tommi Läntinen, who is an alcoholic. He has been in the AA Club for over 10 years. I called him and said I wasn’t quite sure if I had a problem. He said that if you weren’t sure, that means you probably have a problem, Eerikäinen says in the podcast.

Läntinen invited Eerikäinen to the AA group.

Eerikäinen wanted to see what the club was like. He describes that there was a wide variety of people in the group and there were many.

– Everyone told their own story. It just goes according to the tradition that “hey, I’m it and it. I’m an alcoholic.”

Eerikäinen says he was very excited about his turn.

– I didn’t really know how I was saying that. When I came in my turn, I said, “Hi, I’m Esko. I’m really excited about this, this is my first time in the AA Club and when I listen to you, I think I’m an alcoholic, says Eerikäinen.

He describes that at the same time he felt relief and a great contradiction between his words. Even after the experience, Eerikäinen was left to reflect on the definition of the word alcoholic and his own situation.

For the second time, he no longer gone to the meetings. Eerikäinen says he felt he was not in the right place.

In the episode, Aitolehti also spoke about his own and his relatives’ relationships with intoxicants. Aitolehti lost his sister to drugs. His little sister lost her lives in extremely violent conditions in a private residence in Vantaa in 2014.
