This is the conclusion of the Pieter Baan Center in a comprehensive report of more than 160 pages. The experts’ findings were announced on Friday during an introductory hearing in the criminal case, attended by Ayoub M.

The psychiatrist and psychologist say they see a strong connection between what they describe as “the apparent jihadist extremist behavior” of Ayoub M. and his behavior. The Public Prosecution Service is prosecuting him for murder, attempted murder and threats with a terrorist motive. At the moment he struck, Ayoub M. shouted “Allahu akbar”, according to bystanders.

The experts at the PBC say that the risk of recurrence is high. They recommend TBS with compulsory treatment. They will explain their report during the substantive discussion that will take place on December 1.

Erasmus recipient Ayoub M. remains silent

The hearing was attended by victims and relatives in the room and via video link. Ayoub M. has previously expressed regret and said that he wanted to say something to the victims and relatives during the substantive hearing. He remained silent on Friday.

The case is being heard by the District Court of The Hague, because employees of the Rotterdam District Court were involved in overpowering Ayoub M. after he stabbed the two men and threatened people at a restaurant.

The suspect was previously convicted of attempting to murder his mother. During an earlier hearing, he complained that he was only allowed to call his mother for ten minutes four times a week.
