Equestrian World Cup: piaffes and changes of two in the football stadium

Status: 06.08.2022 12:41 p.m

Where the footballers of FC Midtjylland usually chase the ball, there will be piaffes, changes of two and other dressage tasks at the Equestrian World Championships from Saturday (06.08.2022).

The MCH Arena in the Danish city of Herning is the venue for the world championships for dressage and show jumping. With a week to go until it closes on Sunday, the arena, which seats around 12,000, is named after a stud farm and is called the Stutteri ASK Stadium. According to the organizers, 3,000 tons of sand were transported into the arena for the World Equestrian Championships.

The sports show shows the individual finals of the show jumpers on Sunday in a week on TV. Sportschau.de shows this event as a live stream as well as the team competition on Thursday and Friday.

The last time there was an equestrian world championship in the football stadium was in 2014, at that time in the Stade Michel-d’Ornano in Caen. Not every World Cup organizer has such a large equestrian sports arena to offer as Aachen did at the 2006 World Cup: the nearby Tivoli stadium, home to Alemannia Aachen’s fourth division footballers, would fit almost twice in terms of area.
