Enjoy the high temperatures on Saturday afternoon, because in the evening the temperature plummet well. The middle and east of Brabant will have to deal with local rain showers on Saturday where your garden brightens up.
Saturday it can be called downright summer again, thirty degrees and plenty of sun. Most people will look for a nice cooling of the water or quietly under a parasol. But at the end of the afternoon more stacking clouds are created.
The KNMI therefore warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the south and east of the country. The weather institute has issued code yellow. Weerman Wouter van Bernebeek from Weerplaza expects that it will be not too bad in our province in terms of thunderstorms. A lot of rain can fall.
“The center of gravity of the rain showers is above the middle and eastern Brabant. That will be so at the beginning of the evening, between five and seven o’clock,” says De Weerman.
“The showers stay in one place for longer.”
The rain clouds that cover can just leave a lot of precipitation locally. That’s because there is little wind at the top of the atmosphere on Saturday, he explains. “The clouds are about ten kilometers high. If there is a lot of wind above that, the clouds will move faster and you have less rain. Now the showers stay over one place for longer.”
He estimates that there can be twenty to thirty millimeters of rain locally. As the evening progresses, the showers pull away. “The warm air is then driven out and warm air is a breeding ground for rain showers.”
Also Sunday it will also be a lot less warm. What starts with about 25 degrees ends on Sunday afternoon with about 18 degrees. Early in the afternoon we have a chance to win a few showers. “It’s going to rain for a while and then a cold front pulls over. Behind that front flows colder air and it becomes about 18 degrees.”
The real heavy rain and thunderstorms probably pass our province, Van Bernebeek thinks. “They mainly have to deal with that in the middle and the north of the Netherlands. Maybe the north and northeast of Brabant will get some thunderstorms.”
Excessive weather
This weekend’s rain is the harbinger of a changeable week. Monday afternoon it can rain a lot and there is a chance of a thunderstorm. That is also the case on Tuesday.
The following days it remains changeable summer weather. We have a change of clouds, sun and showers. It will be 22 degrees on average.
