So it’s no wonder that the black and yellow have shed their verbal restraint in the past few days and declared winning the title as their goal for the season. Sports director Sebastian Kehl recently made the start, midfield ace Emre Can has now followed suit.
“We’d be stupid if we said it differently. It’s the truth: we’re two points behind Bayern and there are still six games to go. Everyone here in the city wants to be champions, but we also know that we have to do more to achieve it. We have to win our games, and then you will see what happens in the end,” said the German international in the “Sky” interview.
After the painful 3:3 draw against VfB Stuttgart last weekend, Can says he wants to “look ahead” again, after all the “starting position hasn’t changed” and there is still “a lot to do”.
BVB wants to “play to win” against Eintracht Frankfurt
Can is optimistic about the level of commitment in Dortmund training. “We definitely did a good job this week,” revealed the 29-year-old.
On Saturday evening (6:30 p.m.) he and his team-mates meet Eintracht Frankfurt, currently seventh, at Signal Iduna Park at home. A threesome is mandatory against the Hessians.
“We know that we’re incredibly strong here at home with the fans. It won’t be easy against Eintracht, a top team, but we don’t have to hide with our fans and we’ll play to win,” announced Can.
