ROma, 19 Feb. – If we can teach English to elementary children, why can’t we do the same with emotional education? Gabriele Plumari, manager and author of psycho -pedagogical narratives, is clear the type of approach which, nowadays, would be indispensable between young and teenagers. In his books, in fact, the author faces teenage dramas for propose an educational and cultural revolution, but which can be within everyone’s reach. It is an education not only of the mind, but above all of the heart rAcconta Plumari: his books, Paolo and the four monsters And 10 – The perfection of the imperfection They immerse its readers in a real and direct world, made of pain, suffering, but also of rebirth and hope.

Emotional education is time for a kind cultural revolution

In the first book, Paolo grows in a cruel environment, marked by sexual abuse, physical violence and bullying. The only comfort is food, which becomes its “fourth monster”. These monsters, a metaphor of his addictions and trauma, accompany him to adulthood, transforming him into a person who perpetuates the same violence suffered. But thanks to love and support, “hatred chains” can be broken.

In the second book, however, we speak of Marta, a brilliant and disciplined teenager, who chases perfection in every aspect of his life: at school, in dance and even in the control of food. Raised in a family obsessed with success and appearance, he finds himself crushed under the weight of unrealistic standards. It is a journey between social pressures and complexity of adolescence, but which allows a profound reflection on the concept of happiness. My books are not simple stories – explains Plumari – but of mirrors that reflect today’s reality. Teenagers face more and more dramas, and often find themselves “drowning” in their solitude. I really wish there was a change, which can only happen through the commitment of us adults.

Behind his stories, in fact, there is a larger project: the dream of an educational revolution. According to Plumari, in fact, there would be the need to introduce sentimental education paths in schools, supported by the presence of therapists who can act as a bridge between teachers, parents and pupils. Our society is increasingly connected, but increasingly fragile – underlines the author – and our boys find themselves alone, Parents and teachers are often unprepared to face new emotional challenges. I would like a world in which the problems were prevented through a cultural and school change, in which each child can be welcomed and guided towards conscious emotional growth. His writing highlights how greater emotional awareness could prevent many of the dramas that populate the chronicles: suicides, violence, isolation and psychological disorders.

For plumari, the key is to form a generation capable of facing the difficulties with empathy and resilience, breaking the cycle of suffering that too often characterizes growth. Furthermore, the creative soul of the manager has a precise style, based on simplicity and clarity. I would like to reach everyone, even those who do not usually read. I am not interested in impressing with the style. I am interested in that my message arrives strong and clear, and that it is able to support the most vulnerable children, to train more aware parents and to help teachers manage the complexity of the new generations.

Behind each tragedy there is the opportunity for redemption, and behind every difficulty there is a possibility of growth adds Plumari, convinced that a “kind” revolution is indispensable, but perfectly implemented. Just want to want it. We owe it to our kids.
