Emma Plasschaert takes the lead

The 28-year-old defending champion finished in sixth place twice and 22nd in the first three final races. That last result is her worst to date and is therefore gone. After seven races it gives her a net result of 34 points, giving her a three point lead over the Danish Anne-Marie Rindom with two days to go. Third place is in the hands of the Polish Viktoria Golebiovska (38 points), the Dutch Marit Bouwmeester has climbed from fifth to fourth place with forty points.

Plasschaert defends last year’s world title in Texas in the Omani Al-Mussanah. The Ostend became world champion for the first time in 2018 in Aarhus, Denmark. She finished fourth in last year’s Olympics in Japan.
