Emma Aicher has added another one! After her second place on Friday, the German ski racer raced on Saturday (March 1, 2025) for her first victory in the World Cup on Saturday (March 1, 2025).
Aicher could hardly believe her happiness. When she raced and illuminated the best time, the 21-year-old bumped out a jubilee cry and tore her arm up. She had conjured up the fastest journey on the Olympic cup, the 1994 Winter Olympics route, and had rushed to her first victory in the World Cup in 1: 31.69 minutes with top speed in 1: 31.69 minutes. And that with start number 16.
“I am very satisfied how I drove. I haven’t realized it yet, but that will come at some point“, said Aicher on Zdf. And now a celebration? “Well, there is still a race. Then maybe we celebrate a bit on Sunday.”
Aicher ends long dry spell
The coup was not only a milestone for Aicher, but also for the scolded souls of the German ski racers. It was the first departure victory of a German woman in five years.
With Aicher, the DSV finally seems to have a driver who can ignite in the future and become a rocket. At just 21, all -rounder Aicher, who grew up in Sweden, is currently ripping up so much and loose that experts predict a great future.
This also applies to the second -placed Lauren Macuga from the USA. The 22-year-old sat in the leader box for a long time and only had to give up. In the end, the German was 0.03 seconds faster. Similar to Aicher, Macuga was stabbed in the top of the world this season. Behind the two youngsters, Cornelia Hütter (Austria), who won on Friday, and once again elected a combat line, landed in third place.
Talents mix World Cup elite
Aicher has pushed into the world leaders of the best Speed drivers since Kvitfjell. On Friday, 15 hundreds were still missing for victory, and luck was on their side on Saturday. Now it is important to confirm these services. The next test is scheduled for the Super-G on Sunday. Then one of the great competitor is again called Macuga. She had celebrated her World Cup victory in the Super-G at the beginning of the year, later shining at the World Cup with bronze in the same discipline.
Macuga comes from an athlete family. Sister Alli is a humpback slope driver, sister Sam is a ski jumper – all three want to go to the Olympics in 2026.
Weidle-Winkelmann after falling out
While Aicher no longer got the laugh out of his face, Kira Weidle-Winkelmann had to digest another setback. The 29-year-old was well on track on Saturday when she came back to the last passage during the entrance and ended up in double fang fence.
Both skiing immediately loosened, Weidle-Winkelmann slipped a few meters a few meters along the icy slopes, but was lucky in misfortune. She was able to leave the route alone and does not seem to have seriously injured herself. “Everything is cheated a bit stiff, but overall okay.” And to Aicher: “It’s incredible. I treat her to her from the heart.”
