Emergency in the stands – DHB game for third place interrupted

In the middle of the first half there was a brief confusion in the stands. Reason: A person needs medical attention.

The German handball players’ game against Sweden for European Championship bronze was interrupted for several minutes on Sunday. The reason was a medical emergency in the stands midway through the first half.

The German and Swedish team doctors and several paramedics rushed straight to the fan block. There was silence in the Cologne Arena, which was sold out with 19,750 people. After several minutes, the stadium spokesman announced that the person being treated was responsive again. The game continued.
