Former BVB star Erling Haaland will not take part in the European Championship finals in Germany next summer with the Norwegian national football team.

Due to Romania’s 2-1 win against Israel, the Scandinavians have no chance of qualifying for the European Championship finals.

“We hoped, but the stark fact is that we failed,” said national coach Staale Solbakken to the newspaper “Verdens Gang”.

His team only takes third place in Group A behind the qualified teams from Spain and Scotland, and the Norwegians are also unable to take a detour via the Nations League rankings.

The last time the “Landslaget” took part in a major tournament was in 2000.

Incidentally, Haaland will miss the Norwegians’ last European Championship qualifier on Sunday in Scotland. As Norway’s association announced, the 23-year-old suffered an ankle injury again on Thursday in the international match against the Faroe Islands (2-0).
