Elvis, large cauliflowers and gigantic dinos during Gondelvaart Koedijk

After two corona years, the traditional gondola ride of Koedijk was finally held again on Saturday. Thanks in part to the beautiful weather, the public could once again enjoy a procession of around fifteen beautiful deck barges from the Kanaaldijk, with all kinds of different themes. Furthermore, as always there was plenty to do in the village.

“It is something very beautiful that we do this together”, Walter Schouten of Gondelvaart Koedijk proudly tells. Alkmaar Central. “This is the village feeling. And this is making a wonderful event together. And as long as we like it, we will continue to do it, as long as we can still do it.”

Gondola teams had again worked diligently this year for beautiful sets and acts. On display were Elvis Presley with a group of dancers, a gondola with legendary scenes by André van Duin, a Max Verstappen and a Route 66 gondola, and perhaps the most beautiful: the Jurrasic Park gondola. But which one is most popular, will be determined on Sunday during the Boat Builders Ball.

Enthusiasts were happy that the event is back. “Nice that it’s back, it hasn’t been for two years,” says a loyal spectator. “We used to go there with our little kids, and now we go there with the grandkids.” Her grandson is impressed: “Beautiful what they have built.”
