The recently slightly weakening SV Elversberg is gradually getting on the move in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. The team of coach Horst Steffen won 2-0 (2-0) against the SpVgg Greuther Fürth, celebrated the second victory in a row and is now approaching the promotion ranks again.

After only one point from four games, the sports association cheered another victory at SV Darmstadt on the last match day, Fisnik Asllani (6th) and Carlo Sickinger (45.+1) crucial against Fürth. Elversberg’s Lukas Petkov saw yellow-red (90.+4) because of a delay. Due to the defeat, the cloverleaf remains in the middle of the table.

The hosts provided a good mix of solid defense and efficient offensive on the battered lawn in the Waldstadion on the Kaiserlinde.

Asllani met with the first real chance. The 22-year-old easily pushed in from five meters after a cross pass from Tom Zimmerschied. During the first half, Fürth fell nothing to become dangerous to the well -organized Elversbergers. Sickinger, on the other hand, rewarded the good introduction of the Saarlanders shortly before the break whistle with a volley.

The balance of power did not change even after the change of sides. Fürth keeper Nahuel Noll kept his team in the game with a parade against Muhammed Damar (69th). His foremons continued to strive on the offensive.
