Hollywood star Elliot Page (“Juno”, “Inception”) wants to see more trans people in public alongside her.

“I think it’s very important that we feel represented and see ourselves. I didn’t have that as a child,” said the 36-year-old, who came out as transgender at the end of 2020, the “People” magazine.

The Canadian referred to problems that many trans people still face today: they are disproportionately often unemployed and affected by homelessness and are disadvantaged in health care. “My experience as a trans person and this life that I lead and the privilege that I have does not reflect the reality of most trans lives.”

But he also had to go through difficult moments, reports the Canadian. “I feel like I just barely made it in a lot of ways. But today I’m just being myself and grateful to be here and alive and taking one step at a time.” Page’s memoir, Pageboy, will be out on June 6th.
