The polar bears want to attack the top again in the new season.
The Eisbären Berlin want to forget the disappointing previous season in the upcoming season: “The Eisbären always set themselves high goals. We want to be one of the top teams in the league again,” said sports director Stéphane Richer on Monday at the club’s season-opening press conference in the arena at Ostbahnhof.
After the DEL record champions missed the playoffs for the first time in 22 years in the spring, the Canadian’s first priority is to present fans with better ice hockey: “After last season, it is important for us that we have a good and attractive main round play for our fans,” said Richer. “In the playoffs, everyone starts from scratch. Then everything is possible.”

Despite the recent failure, the Berliners can rely on the loyalty of their fans: more than 5,500 season tickets have been sold so far.
Managing director Thomas Bothstede is also expecting a sold-out hall when the capital city hosts runner-up ERC Ingolstadt at the start of the season on Friday (7.30 p.m. / Magentasport).
