The Eisbären Berlin have stopped their negative run in the German Ice Hockey League. Thanks to a strong final spurt, the DEL record champions won against the Löwen Frankfurt 3:1 (0:0, 0:1, 3:0); coach Serge Aubin’s team had previously remained winless three times. The Straubing Tigers defended their lead in the table with a 2:1 (1:0, 0:0, 0:1, 1:0) after extra time at runner-up ERC Ingolstadt.

Berlin, having fallen behind through Frankfurt’s Julian Napravnik (32′), only turned up the heat in the final third. Thanks to a hat trick from Yannick Veilleux (46th/51st/60th), the Eisbären moved past Bremerhaven into second place in the table, one point behind Straubing.

Because the Fischtowns Pinguins had to admit defeat to champions Red Bull Munich with 1:2 (0:0, 0:2, 1:0). While it was Bremerhaven’s second defeat in a row, Munich coach Toni Söderholm’s team achieved their second win in a row and climbed to sixth place.

In the bottom of the table, bottom team Iserlohn Roosters suffered a bitter setback after their surprise success in Berlin. In the NRW duel against the Kölner Haie, the East Westphalians lost 2:5 (0:2, 1:0, 1:3).

The Nuremberg Ice Tigers, on the other hand, stopped their horror run of nine bankruptcies in a row. In a long, even game, the previous penultimate team triumphed 2-1 (0-0, 0-1, 2-0) at Düsseldorfer EG and moved past the Rhinelanders. Charlie Gerard scored the celebrated winning goal 54 seconds before the final siren.
