As a fourth German club, Eintracht Frankfurt broke the 150,000 members. The Hesse announced this at a meeting on Monday evening. But other clubs have also increased strongly in the past few months, including Master Bayer Leverkusen and Vice VfB Stuttgart. FC Bayern is unchallenged at the top with more than 150,000 members ahead of Borussia Dortmund.
“The members are the essential strength behind our growth and represent the foundation and the basis of our success,” said Frankfurt’s Vice President Moritz Theimann, representative of the sick President Mathias Beck. Just three years ago, the Hesse had broken the sound barriers of 100,000 members. This was followed by the triumph in the Europa League 2022 with subsequent participation in the Champions League.
However, not only the Eintracht recently made a big leap, the number of members of FC St. Pauli, Leverkusens and Stuttgarts also grew significantly after their successful seasons: at the Kiezklub from Hamburg, the rise of 40,000 was about the 50,000, at the Werkelf from 55,000 to over 66,000 and at VfB from 100,000 to around 120,000. The Swabians overtook Borussia Mönchengladbach (101,982) and Hamburger SV (110,000), while the Rhinelanders moved past Werder Bremen (56,000) and Hertha BSC (58.147).
In the comparison of all German professional clubs, the Munichers are still clearly at the top with 382,000 members. The BVB follows with 218,493 followers registered. In the top 5 of the most members of the members, there are also two second division teams with Schalke 04 (190,400) and 1. FC Köln (140,000), in the top 20 there are even seven. With Dynamo Dresden (30,693) and Hansa Rostock (28,600), the 3rd league is also represented in this selection twice.
