Marathon weather

The half marathon is known for the influence of the weather elements. The wind blows hard on the beach. “The runners will have a headwind there, wind force 5 is predicted. I think that’s why the toppers will run close to each other,” says Mijderwijk. “The battle then erupts in the dunes.”

“It can occasionally rain on Sunday morning,” says weatherman Jan Visser. “But it won’t be much. The temperature during the marathon is about 9 degrees.” According to the weatherman a nice temperature to run. “Make sure you’re a little protected from the rain at the start,” he advises. “For example, you can start with gloves on, and then quickly take them off again while running.”

Rain or shine, we run. Mijderwijk is already making a prediction of the result. “With the women, Nienke Brinkman wins. She is in a class of her own.” Mijderwijk does not yet dare to say who wins with the men.
