Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder got support for his song “Better Man,” which first appeared on the Pearl Jam album VITALOGY (1994). Both he and rapper Post Malone only sat on stage with acoustic guitars. Afterwards they also played “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty, whose release on FULL MOON FEVER (1989) dates back even further.

The “Reportin’ For Duty” event was held in Shelbyville, Tennessee, in honor of actor and comedian Leslie Jordan, who passed away in October 2022. The performance of the two musicians was also intended to raise funds for the “EB Research Partnership”. Vedder and his wife Jill McCormick founded this organization in 2014 to advance research into the skin disease Epidermolysis Bullosa, commonly known as butterfly skin.

Big plans for the future

The performance capped a busy week for both musicians. Last week Pearl Jam announced their twelfth album DARK MATTER for April 19th and released the title track as the first single. Additionally, they shared dates for a world tour. From May to November, Eddie Vedder’s rock band will be traveling between North America, Europe and Australia. They will stop in Germany on July 2nd and 3rd and play twice in the Berlin Waldbühne.

Post Malone, on the other hand, was on stage at the Super Bowl last week. There he played an acoustic version of “America The Beautiful.” He also confirmed his participation in the remake of the action film “Road House” (1989) alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. A feature on the song “Fortnight” from Taylor Swift’s upcoming album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT, out April 19th, is also in the cards.
