Dynamo Dresden wanted to hand over the red lantern of the 2nd Bundesliga with a win. But nothing came of it.
Holstein Kiel won the last Saturday evening game of the 2nd Bundesliga in 2025. The “Storks” won a 2-1 home win against Dynamo Dresden. Holstein was behind after just twelve minutes.
Kiel’s coach Marcel Rapp had formulated a clear goal before the game: “We want to go into the break with 20 points.” That should succeed. Although Vincent Vermeij (12th) gave the guests the lead with a header, Kiel’s Phil Harres (29th) equalized after Luca Herrmann lost the ball on the halfway line. Ivan Nekić (51′) also headed home after a corner and turned the game around. As a result, the game remained largely without highlights or significant scoring opportunities.
After Kiel’s opening goal, Dynamo-Ultras fired rockets onto the field, whereupon the game had to be interrupted for several minutes.
For Dynamo, the defeat means that the Saxons will end 2025 in 18th place. With a win, Dresden would have moved past Fürth.
