The German biathlete Franziska Preuss continues to win the overall World Cup. Now she has taken another step towards fulfilling the dream.
Biathlete Franziska Preuß took a big step towards her first overall World Cup victory with a third place in the shortened singles of Pokljuka. Two days after her 31st birthday, the Bavarian in Slovenia met all 20 shots in adverse conditions. After 12.5 kilometers with 46.2 seconds behind, Prussia only had to give up the also flawless winner Julia Simon from France and the Swede Hanna Öberg (1 error/+ 39.1 seconds).
For persecution world champion Preuss, it was already the eleventh World Cup podium of the season, with which she enlarged her lead over the seventh-placed French Lou JeanMonnot to 60 points. With only four outstanding individual competitions until the end of the season on Sunday in a week in Oslo, the chances of Preuss to become the first German overall winner since Laura Dahlmeier 2017. Prussia has been wearing the yellow jersey since December 13th.
The four -time medalist of the Lenzerheide World Cup showed a highly concentrated performance at the Slovenian plateau. Four times, Preuss left the shooting range without a mistake, in the cross -grade cross -country ski run, she also showed no weakness.
In the past few days, a lot of precipitation and too high temperatures had added to the trails and ensured, among other things, the formation of large puddles. Racing director Borut Nunar spoke of “serious damage” on the route. As a result, the schedule for the current week was changed significantly and the races originally planned as a normal single were shortened in order to have to prepare fewer route kilometers.
