The accident happened between the entrance and exit of Waasmunster in the direction of Ghent. Witnesses saw how the driver of a car with a Ukrainian number plate drove recklessly. This was recorded on dashcam images, among other things. Things went awry when the man slammed into the back of a small truck with a Romanian number plate. He lost control of the steering wheel, after which the vehicle rolled over several times. The car landed on its four wheels about 100 meters away, badly battered. Miraculously, the driver was unharmed. He turned out to be heavily under the influence of alcohol and was handcuffed for running too much amok. Two lanes are currently blocked due to the accident. The fire brigade is on site to clean up glass and debris.
