Drenthe (semi-)government buildings increasingly sustainable, but deadline is approaching

The barracks in Havelte still have a lot to do with label F and that has already drawn the attention of the Ministry of Defence, because the ministry is working on a review of the entire property portfolio. The barracks in Assen is not on the list for unknown reasons, but given the age of the building it is far from having a C label. The barracks in Assen are nominated to close.

The town hall in Emmen, the library in Emmen, the Foundation Welfare Organization Andes in Borger, the Foundation for Social Welfare Coevorden and Stark in Hoogeveen have a label D. But with relatively minor interventions a label D can usually be turned into a label C, such as providing the office with LED lighting, replacing an old central heating boiler with a heat pump, installing double glazing and insulating roofs, facades and floors.

Last year it turned out that office buildings still had a great deal to do. More than half of the office buildings in the HEMA cities (Hoogeveen, Emmen, Meppel and Assen) were not yet sustainable enough. In Assen, the NAM office with label E is the biggest challenge. NAM does not need to make this building more sustainable in consultation with the municipality of Assen, because this company will move to another location within a few years.
