Drenthe ‘cleanest’ province in the Netherlands

Drenthe is the province with the fewest litter fines in the Netherlands. This is apparent from research conducted by the site www.decision.nl, based on figures from the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB).

In Drenthe, 1.7 percent of all fines in the Netherlands for dumping waste were handed out between 2014 and 2020.

Drenthe also has the lowest figures with regard to the number of inhabitants, with 7.6 fines per 10,000 inhabitants. South Hollanders were the most likely to receive 25 fines per 10,000 inhabitants.

Hoogeveen in top three

At the municipal level, Hoogeveen is in the national top three with 35.4 fines per 10,000 inhabitants. Only in Rotterdam (56) and The Hague (42) were more fines handed out per 10,000 inhabitants.
