Bergamo, 28 May. (askanews) – The race towards the future, towards technological, scientific and industrial evolution cannot ignore the protection of the natural heritage. Even in the urban planning field, the ‘smart city’ model tends to combine technological innovations with attention to environmental impact. In Bergamo the ‘Dreamland’ protected nature park is an example of naturalistic integration within cities.

The park, inaugurated three years ago by Legami, a leading company in the gift & stationery sector, is currently one of the most large metropolitan areas reconverted to biodiversity: within the site, which extends for over 30 hectares, 25 species of pollinating insects and 51 species of plants have been identified.

Alberto Fassi, founder and CEO of Legami, declared: “Dreamland is one of our most important initiatives in terms of environmental sustainability and today it turns three. It is a protected nature park in an urban contextwe are talking about an area of approximately 32-33 hectares in which we wanted to take a step back as human beings to ensure that nature takes a step forward, so that it regains possession of spaces”.

Three years after Dreamland opened, it was inaugurated the green kilometre : a 1 km linear forestry intervention made up of over 1,500 trees and shrubs, a green barrier between the Dreamland area and the A4 motorway that protects the development of local biodiversity in a highly anthropized context. The correlation between Legami and Dreamland is simple: rediscovering the value of coexistence between man and nature, with the latter understood as an evocative force capable of encouraging imagination and creativity, generative and enriching characteristics.

“It’s a start because, every year, we allocate an important part of our profits to these projects of both environmental and social sustainability initiatives. We channel all our resources into the project of building the largest urban park that exists in Europe. So it is extremely ambitious” continues Fassi.

From this union was born ‘We are Dreamers’ – The Strawberry Battle, the first book written by Alberto Fassi, founder and CEO of Legami, that is, an adventure novel that suggests young people dream, to let themselves go to their imagination to trace authentic routes and to weave solid and lasting plots in the pages of life.

“I presented our first book at the Turin Book Fair. It is called ‘We are Dreamers’ and it is the anthem of our values. We tell the story of an adventure of four boys and the message we convey is that we must believe in ourselves and therefore, being different is not a limit. This is how we tell the story of the strength of bonds” concludes Fassi.
